Introductions
My name is Gabrielle Santiago, and I am a Junior here at Texas Tech. I’m majoring in creative media industries and wanting to earn a certificate in game design and culture. I am taking this class to learn how to creatively problem solve and expand my love of video games to other types of games. My family dislikes board games, therefore, the only two I can remember playing were Life and Monopoly. As I’ve gotten older, I made friends that played role playing games, board games, card games, the works. Until I met them, I never knew how big those communities are. I’m excited to learn more about different kinds of games and collaborate with other creatives.
I prefer single-player, open world style video games and most indie adventure video games. I will play out all the miscellaneous side quests just to enjoy the little creative details in each one. You can see the developer’s heart in the smallest things. My personal favorite game is Skyrim. It’s a part of the Elder Scrolls series and I ‘ve been playing it since the day it was released. If you’ve ever played it, you know that it has hundreds of different books that you can actually read throughout the game. It's a perfect example beauty being in the details. Those stories are genuinely well-written and add to the artistry of it all.
